Who writes this

Sawyer V. writes Razor & Ritual. Not a barber, not a dermatologist, not a product tester - just someone genuinely interested in how this stuff works. I read the manuals, compile the published specs, and do the arithmetic. Then I tell you what I would buy and why. No lab coat.

That is the whole biography and it is deliberately short, because the parts people normally put in one - years of experience, credentials, a lab, a collection of eighty razors - are things I do not have. Saying so is the price of everything else on this site being checkable.

Why the site exists

Because the field this site competes in leads with experience and credentials, and a striking number of those claims are attached to nobody in particular. The most aggressive testing numbers we found while researching this category - thousands of hours, dozens of products destroyed - came from a site with no named author, no biography and no standards page at all.

That is the field's weak spot: claims that scale faster than the evidence behind them. They are trivially falsifiable by a competitor and precisely what a search quality rater is trained to discount. We cannot imitate them honestly and we are not going to try.

What we actually do

• Compile published specifications. Every figure on this site traces to a manufacturer page or a retailer listing that publishes the maker's numbers, and every product page names its source. Currently 48 products.
• Say “not published” when it is not published. Empty cells on this site are honest. A great many razors do not disclose blade gap, and most trimmers do not disclose a blade replacement interval. We say so rather than filling it in.
• Compute how long things last. Published pack size divided by a stated consumption assumption. It needs no price, it is reproducible from the label, and nobody else in this category publishes it.
• Print the working under every score. Four axes, weights published, and the arithmetic for each one visible on the page.
• Name at least one thing we would not buy on every roundup. A roundup where everything wins is an advertisement.

What we do not do

• Test products. We own none of this. There is no test bathroom and no drawer of razors.
• Claim credentials. No barber, no dermatologist, no expert panel, nothing “medically reviewed”. None of those people work here.
• Publish a price we cannot verify. The live price layer on this build is empty, so every buy button reads “Check price”. A remembered price is a number you would act on.
• Accept sponsored placements or free products. No brand has paid for a position here and none has sent us anything.
• Emit a rating in our structured data. The visible score on a page is ordinary content. Marking it up as a review rating would assert a reviewer who used the product, which is not what happened.

Who this site is for

Somebody upgrading from cartridge autopilot who wants the setup decided for him. That is a specific reader and it shapes everything: why the flagship page is a whole routine rather than a single product, why every commercial page names one pick before it explains anything, and why the scoring weights how easy the switch is more heavily than anything else.

If you have been wet shaving for a decade and want a debate about blade geometry, this is not the site for that, and there are better ones.
